Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Michael Silva is an NHS consultant surgeon in this Foundation Trust and is primarily based at the Churchill Hospital and also at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington, Oxford. The Churchill Hospital is also where complex major surgery for private patients is carried out.

The Churchill Hospital is a centre for cancer services and other specialties, including renal services and transplant, clinical and medical oncology, dermatology, haemophilia, infectious diseases, chest medicine, medical genetics and palliative care. The hospital, together with the nearby John Radcliffe, is a major centre for healthcare research, housing departments of Oxford University Medical School and Oxford Brookes University’s School of Healthcare Studies.

Developments in recent years include the opening of the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM), which is a collaboration between the University of Oxford, the NHS and three partner companies, to create a world-class centre for clinical research on diabetes, endocrine and metabolic disorders, along with clinical treatment and education.
