Cholecystectomy (cancer)

Of his outstanding abilities and expertise there can be no doubt, but there are other important qualities that Mr Silva possesses, in particular his quiet concern and kindness. He never made me feel that my advanced years were a serious obstacle. He takes great pains to explain in laymen’s terms the procedure he plans to follow and what can be expected afterwards, instilling confidence. It was also good to have one’s point of view considered and discussed, making one feel involved in the treatment.

 Thank you, Mr. Mike Silva

Experience of Mr Silva’s treatment

Mr Silva was courteous professional and friendly in his clinic at our first meeting but above all he inspired great confidence that he could manage the extensive and intricate surgery being discussed and that I would be in very good hands. He more than delivered in every respect and throughout my hospital stay and afterwards provided personal care of the highest standard. Most importantly the surgery he performed was more successful than I had dared to hope for.

I couldn’t recommend him too highly.

Total Pancreatectomy with Auto Islet Transplant

Mr Silva is a kind, courteous, caring and very knowledgeable professional. He spent a lot of time thinking about my operation, explaining to me what it would involve and why it should be done. I went into my operation safe in the knowledge that I was in the very best of hands. The care I received during my operation and recovery in hospital by Mr Silva and his team was outstanding. My surgery has been very successful and I am extremely grateful to Mr Silva.

Whipple procedure

I write this review to both thank Mr Silva and his team for my successful surgery and to praise Mr Silva for his dedicated professionalism and kindness

On learning that I had a cancerous tumor associated with my pancreas, it was my good fortune to be a patient at the John Radcliffe later transferred to the care of Mr Silva at the superb Churchill hospital.

On meeting Mr Silva and listened to his calm and reassuring explanation of the operation, I had no doubt that I was in good hands and that I would walk away from the hospital a well and healing man.

Due to complications my operation was delayed for 8 weeks. Mr Silva allayed any fears and mounting anxiety. Though with many patients he found time to visit me in the ward and with few words and quiet good humor kept me in good spirits.
